For many learners intent on starting a new language,
one of the biggest considerations is which language
to learn. The choice depends on the availability of
the language in a particular area, the practicality
of learning a certain language and the difficulty of
undertaking that language. First time learners might
steer away from tricky
languages with multiple noun declensions, verb conjugations,
plural forms or genders.
That’s not to dissuade anyone from learning a ‘difficult’
language though – it’s always rewarding to embrace a
challenge!
Others have their choice of language decided for them.
By this I mean that the language they have chosen to
learn has been somewhat predetermined by geography,
ancestry, spouse,
work commitments or other academic studies. For many
learning a foreign language, it’s advised to start with
the language of a neighbouring or close proximity country.
This is particularly true in continental Europe, but
also in United Kingdom through a French class London and in North America with Spanish.
As one of the world’s most spoken languages, an interest
in speaking Spanish is not just specific to the Americas
however. A Spanish
class London can provide you with a gateway to the
charms of the Spanish language.
Family commitments and history may also determine one’s
choice of language. It makes sense to take a German
lesson London or Italian
lesson London if you’re of German origins or you
have family over in Tuscany. With an Italian or German
class London, you can really feel like you’re getting
to know your roots, plus meeting people of a similar
heritage and background at the same time!
English is also a priority for many, although it is
often taught at school level and in higher education.
With this basic working knowledge of English,
it makes it easier for adult learners to refresh their
English ability later in life for work or travel.
